So I'm sitting here mindlessly gazing at the TV when all of a sudden something catches my attention. On VH-1, a series is airing titled "I Love The 70's". Now- I don't know about you but, I am a HUGE fan of nostalgia. And the 70's are about as nostalgic as anything can get! It was basically a 6 hour show with each hour highlighting a year from 1971 up to 1976. Old commercials were played, popular (should I say) attire 'ala Leisure Suits were brought back for our enjoyment.

For a precious 6 hours, I was frolicking in the land of CHIPs, WKRP & BJ & The Bear!

Afterwards I got to thinking- Will there ever be a decade like the 70's ever again? I'm not talking about the god awful dress codes or the mandatory Disco collections. But rather the freedoms and carefree attitude that so threaded through society at that time? The family values as well. To this day I still have fond memories of sitting at the dinner table for dinner (what a concept), helping clean up. Doing homework getting an hour or so to play outside with my friends and finally gathering around the television to watch that weeks episode of The Waltons before showering and heading off to bed. Sound boring? Of course it does! Things were simpler then.

For those that can- Sit back for a sec, think about those times. There was no such thing as worrying about terrorism, global warming or aids! If it felt good do it! was the motto of the day. Nobody got hurt. Although drugs abounded, they were easily avoided. Besides, the drugs that did exist were the equivalent to strong aspirin compared to today's chemical cadaver pills.

Check your local listings. If you get VH-1 in your area, make a point to sit back, relax and escape the horrors of society today by slipping back, albeit for a few hours... To the 70's!

Oh, one last thing. Next month? It's I LOVE THE 80's!!!

Stay tuned
